Free Seminar: Employment Law 2012

Robert King

Free Seminar

Employment Law: 2012

Tuesday 13th March

Chris Phillips

In the world of employment law nothing ever stands still and 2012 will be no exception. In this seminar Simpson & Marwick Partners and Employment Law Specialists, Robert King and Chris Phillips, will analyse the impact of the recent changes brought about by the Agency Workers Regulations and look ahead to other developments in employment law that are likely to affect your business in the coming year.

Questions to be answered include:

  • What are the new Employment Laws that will impact in 2012?
  • How will I know if the Agency Workers Regulations apply to my business?
  • What rights will agency workers have now, that they didn’t have before, and when will they arise?
  • I’ve heard about the Government planning to make it more difficult and more expensive to bring unfair dismissal claims – how and when will they do this?
  • Is there anything in the pipeline that might make it easier for my business to deal with problem employees and avoid Tribunal claims?
  • Are my employees going to be given any more rights this year?

Local firm, Staffplus, are sponsoring this event, at which employment law specialists Chris Phillips and Robert King will speak. In their talk they will answer the questions above as well as your own.

This FREE event takes place in the Dalziel Building, 7 Scott Street, Motherwell ML1 1PN.

Registration, with refreshments, will be from 10.00am. The seminar will run from 10.30am to 12.00 noon. Both Robert and Chris will make themselves available for Q&As at the end of the seminar.

The new ACAS Code of Practice – what it means for your business?

National law firm, HBJ Gateley Wareing, stages the latest of its seminars on Wednesday 25th March, introducing the new rules effective from APRIL 2009.

From April 2009 the statutory dispute resolution procedures, which currently govern how we manage all discipline and grievance cases in the workplace will be replaced by a new set of rules based on the ACAS Code of Practice on Discipline and Grievance. These changes will affect all of you and your businesses so it is vital that you are familiar with them.

Questions to be answered include:

  • What will the new rules mean for the way that I manage discipline and grievance cases in future?
  • Do I need to change all of my procedures straight away?
  • Does this mean that I can just forget about the existing rules on discipline and grievance cases after April?
  • How will we deal with cases that have started under the old procedures but will finish under the new procedures?
  • What will it mean for my business if I fail to follow these new procedures but I still dismiss one of my employees?

Local firm, Staffplus, are sponsoring this event, at which employment law specialists Jacqueline McCluskey and Robert King will speak. In their talk, they will guide you through the new rules and prepare for you to deal with the new procedures and the obligations that will arise under them.
